I want to connect with you

I love Pilates and I love to write, so it is probably natural that I found my way to a Blog. However, I’m surprised it has taken me this long to start one! I talk to my husband and kids a lot about my job as a Pilates Instructor, but I think they are kind of over it. What I really want to do is connect with you! I want to talk to other Pilates lovers, instructors, and even those who are trying Pilates for the first time.

I know that Pilates is not always love at first sight. I heard about Pilates for the first time through the director of my college dance company. Unfortunately, I did not embrace it back then because I naively thought ballet and modern dance would give me the only exercise that I would ever need. How wrong I was!

The second time I encountered Pilates was after the birth of my daughter, and I was impressed by how it whipped my abs back into shape. After another baby and a move to a new studio, the real intrigue began. Doing spine stretch I thought I could just fold over my legs and show off my dancer’s flexibility. I could see the teacher rolling her eyes in the mirror. I had a lot to learn about lifting my abs in and up and folding over an imaginary beach ball in my lap!

We each have a story about how we found Pilates and what it means to us. Whether you have been practicing for 6 weeks or 6 years, I want to hear from you! Send me a message and tell me why you started Pilates and what you thought in your first class. It’s always fun to see how far we’ve come!
