Where to start if you are new to Pilates
Classes vs. Private Lessons for Beginners
Private Lessons and Intro Packs
You can never go wrong by starting with some private lessons. Having good form and alignment during exercies will allow you to get so much more out of Pilates from the very beginning. Working on the equipment such as the reformer and tower may be new to you, and a private lesson allows you to ask questions and find modifactions that you may need for your own body. In fact, many of our experienced clients continue to do a combination of private lessons and group classes long have they have mastered the basics.
To schedule a private lesson, please send us an email with days and times that you prefer for lessons, and we will do our best to match you with an instructor that can teach at those times.
We offer an Intro Package for all new clients of three 45min private sessions for $180.
Pilates Basics for Beginners
If you enjoy the camaraderie of a group and would like to learn the fundamentals of Pilates in a small class, you can sign up for the Pilates Basics class. The maximum group size is 5 people for this class, so that you can still receive individual attention, and the instructor can help you navigate new equipment and exercises. *Please be aware that if an Insturctor feels that you would benefit from private instruction, you may be advised to take a series of private lessons before continuing with classes.
Pilates Basics classes take place on:
Sunday at 10:00am
Monday at 7:00am
Thursdays at 4:30pm
These are ongoing classes at the regular price of $30 per session or you can purchase a 10-class pack at $250. To sign up for this beginner option, select the Classes tab above.
Frequently Asked Questions
What will my first session be like?
You will be asked about your health and exercise history. If you have had any recent injuries or procedures, you should check with your healthcare provider to determine whether you should begin Pilates. During the session you will learn the fundamental mat exercises and you will become comfortable using the equipment. Please ask any questions that you have during the workout, and let us know if you are uncomfortable with any exercise. There are so many ways we can modify to fit your needs!
What should I wear?
Comfortable athletic wear and bare feet or grip socks are best. Clothing with a snug fit is ideal to see proper body alignment. Loose or baggy clothing can become a nuisance on the equipment.
Can Pilates help to alleviate back pain?
